Best Cucumber Trellis Kits
Cucumbers grown vertically yield twice the fruit per square metre, ripen straighter, and sit cleanly off the soil so slugs and rot leave them alone. A purpose-built cucumber trellis kit makes the upgrade easy. We stopped
We are continuing to share some simple and easy ideas to add a little “Patriotic” to your decor for the upcoming summer holidays with these cute little Bakers Twine wrapped candle holders. Sometimes, simple is all that is needed.
Supplies used:
Bakers Twine
glass candle holders
glue gun
scissors
To dress up some simple glass candle holders with a little red, white and blue, I pulled out my hot glue gun and some bakers twine.
I put a small dab of hot glue on the outside of the glass and just wrapped the twine around a few times, cut and glued the other end. Pretty simple.
Keeping with my ‘flag’ theme this month, I used three candle holders, one wrapped in blue and two in red. I love the simplicity of these. I also love that when the holiday is over, I can easily remove the twine and reuse it for something else.
For a little variation on the same theme, I wrapped the candle holders in more of a stripe pattern, still using just a dab of hot glue to secure both ends.
These will look cute with my other Patriotic decor this year.
Thank you for the visit!

A bag of plant stakes is one of those quiet upgrades that you only notice when you don’t have them — propping up dahlias with a chopstick, tying a leggy capsicum to a bamboo pole that’s already split. The right stakes

Solar pathway lights are the easy upgrade that punches above its weight. No wiring, no electrician, no power bill — just stake them in and they come on at dusk. The trade-off is brightness and longevity: cheap solar li

Soil pH determines what nutrients plants can actually take up — even a perfectly fertilised bed at pH 4.5 will starve plants because the nutrients lock up. Most vegetables want pH 6.0-7.0. Most ornamentals are similar.

Slugs and snails will turn a bed of seedlings into stems overnight. Metaldehyde baits work but are toxic to pets, birds and wildlife. The good news: there are several effective organic options — iron phosphate baits, c
